TV presenter and former Mum of the Year, Melinda Messenger, and popular children’s TV character Peppa Pig, came together with charities, trade unions and parents to ‘shout out for a sure start’.

The new campaign will give supporters of Sure Start Children’s Centres a powerful voice, politicians from each of the political parties will hear loud and clear from parents that giving children a sure start in life is one of their top priorities.

The campaign is being launched as new figures reveal that childcare policies will be a major vote winner among parents in the upcoming election1. The campaign, supported by UNISON, and run by 4Children, has been set up to celebrate and promote the value that Sure Start Children’s Centres bring to communities by supporting families, and helping mums, dads and grandparents to share the joys and challenges of raising children.

Melinda Messenger said: “Like so many other parents I know that bringing up children is one of the most joyful and rewarding experiences in life, but also at times challenging and demanding. That is why it is so important that parents know there is help and support at hand. This is what Sure Start is all about.

“I am proud to be supporting the brilliant ‘shout out for a sure start’ campaign which brings parents together around the country to show just how important Sure Start is to them.”

Melinda has confirmed that she will not be renewing her contract with Live From Studio Five when her six-month contract ends in March to present different shows.

Melinda says "I've had a fantastic six months and wish all the guys success."

Melinda joined the show as presenter when it launched last autumn, alongside former soccer star Ian Wright and 'The Apprentice' runner-up Kate Walsh.

	Melinda has recorded ''The Golden Slipper' for "A Bedtime Story with Arnie and Barnie" on Nick Jnr. The show airs on Nick Jr every day at 7.15pm from Monday, November 23.
	Melinda was on the judging panel to help choose 'Britains Kindest Kid', in conjunction with Five News and the Charities Aid Foundation. She visited Downing Street with the nominees to meet Gordon Brown, and Melinda says: “We have whittled down a whole load of finalists to just five very special children. It was a very difficult thing to have to do and thank goodness I don’t have to vote for which one is Britain’s Kindest Kid because they are all absolutely amazing. They are all incredible.”
	Melinda has added her support to a recording-breaking tea run that will be completed by Rebecca Wass. Rebecca, who has recently been diagnosed with the muscular disease Fibromyalgia, will be cycling the length of the country (934 miles) giving away free cups of tea and chocolate bars in a bid to raise money for Heart FM's Have a Heart, and Red Dragon FM's Help a South Wales Child charities along the way.
	Melinda's new show 'Live From Studio Five' starts Monday 14th September from 18.30-19.30 on Five, and runs Monday through Fridays.

	Having just finished filming the 2nd series of "Cowboy Builders" for Five, Melinda's new show "Live From Studio Five" has just been anounced. The news, talk and entertainment show will bring you the day’s most gripping stories in the clearest, most entertaining way. It will mix live and recorded location reports, celebrity interviews, gossip and banter all based around that day’s popular news agenda. Viewers can expect to be entertained, informed, surprised and occasionally shocked as the presenters give us their personal take on that day’s events – all backed up by a team of Five News reporters and the news-gathering resources of Sky News. 	Presenter Melinda Messenger roped in boxer Ricky Hatton to give her some tips on how to bring the fighting spirit to her performance on Sunday. Ricky handed the former model a pair of customised shorts emblazoned with her name on and the ‘Hitman’ put her through her paces in the ring. With her renewed confidence Melinda said: “It’s all about being focused, it’s about being controlled, it’s about not holding back and going for it. Not losing your bottle when you make a mistake, just carrying on. “Ricky is really inspiring and motivating so hopefully I’m going to carry that with me to Sunday night and not let the fear overtake me. I’m going to go out [on Sunday] and believe I can do it.” Ricky said: “I’ve been on a skating rink a few times with my little lad, its not the easiest thing to do. If Melinda does make a mistake she needs to keep her cool because in a boxing ring if you don’t keep your cool you get knocked out ...[she needs to] keep positive, shut it from your mind and just get on with the job.” He continued: “I think what we’ve talked about today and the little bit we’ve done in the ring should make her a champion on Sunday night.” And whilst it clearly worked, and after a fantastic and confident performance, Melinda and Fred's run on Dancing On Ice is over, after ending up in the skate off against Jessica. 	Melinda had a lucky escape this week when she injured herself during training mid-week; luckily a friend and Sports Therapist was able to give Melinda an urgent treatment which enabled her to continue skating this week. 	22nd January 2009: The Duchess of Cornwall presents Melinda Messenger with an Ambassadors certificate during a tour of Barnardo’s village today. Melinda Messenger has been named celebrity ambassador for children's charity Barnardo's. The Dancing On Ice contestant and TV Presenter Melinda, 37, said she wanted to make the most of her new role. "I firmly believe it's so important to give a child the best chance. Where I can promote Barnardo's I do. Since I spent time and visited the project and works they do I've got a real appreciation for just how valuable the work they do is," she said.
